ECF-rated Rapidplay (5 rounds of 25 mins + 5 seconds per move).

Early entry (before 1st September 2025) £20 for ECF Gold members, £35 for ECF Bronze / non-members.

The ECF September rating list will be used.

Tea, coffee, cold drinks, sandwiches and light snacks will be available on the day. There will also be a small secondhand book stall. Cards payments will be possible on the day.

TOURNAMENT RULES

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:
Players should be ECF members at Gold or above, or a non-ENG player with active FIDE ID, otherwise there will be an additional “Pay-to-Play” fee of £15.
Please note that entries are only accepted when the payment has been processed online. Unrated players will be requested to provide evidence of their playing strength/past grade or rating to enter them in the suitable section – the organiser reserves the right to change the section of player, or to refuse entry.
Refund requests will be considered up to 7 days before the event start time & an admin fee of £5 will be charged per refund per player. No refunds will be issued less than 7 days before the event start time for any reason.
Players may request a half-point bye in advance in any one round, except the last round.
The organiser reserves the right to adjust the prize money and/or merge sections without notice, if there are less than 48 entries for the event, OR insufficient entries (less than 16) in any section.
Please enter early to avoid paying late fee – the event is limited to 120 players.

Rate of Play
Each player will have 25 Minutes plus a 5 Second Increment from start.

Planned Playing Schedule
Please aim to arrive by 10 am to allow a prompt start to the first round. While every effort will be made to adhere to the planned playing schedule, the Organiser does not take responsibility for reason/s affecting the schedule beyond their control.
Please note that there are no scheduled breaks for lunch, etc. in between rounds

Round 5: 15:50    Planned Finish : 17:20

Refreshments
Tea, coffee, cold drinks, sandwiches and light snacks will be available at the venue to purchase. Card payment will be possible on the day.

The venue is disability friendly – any such person needing help is requested to inform the organiser in advance.

Rating
The September ECF Rapid Rating List will be used to determine player’s ratings for the tournament. In case an ECF Rapid Rating is not available, Standard Ratings/Estimated Ratings (with evidence)/ FIDE ratings may also be used by the organiser to determine a player’s section as required. If a player becomes ineligible for a section due a rating change after they have entered, then the organiser will email the entrant on 2nd September.

Prizes
Cash prizes will be awarded to winners on the day of the tournament. Payment can also be made by bank transfer, if preferred. In case of a tie on points for place position/s, the prize will be jointly shared, suitably modifying the overall prize money. In case of there being more than one player tied for the first place, there will be no second place prize, as the latter prize money will be pooled for the first prize joint winners. No player can win more than one prize and the organisers decision will be final. In all sections, players without an ECF or FIDE rating can win a maximum prize money of £50 – the remaining prize money will be apportioned to other winners in that section/s.

TRAIN: Chatham Station is a 5 minute walk from the venue. Leaving the front of the station, turn right and head north on Railway Street. Take a left into New Cut (walking around Wickes car park). Where New Cut merges onto New Road Avenue, cross the road at the pedestrian crossing. Turn left once you have crossed New Road Avenue, then after 50m turn right into Manor Road.

Safeguarding: Please note that ONE accompanying adult MUST be present at all times during the event as the venue is open to the public. There will be only 50 chairs for accompanying adults inside the playing hall. Adults are not allowed to stroll or watch while the games are in progress. Dear All,


I am delighted to announce our next chess tournament at Chiswick Town Hall on Saturday, Nov the 30th.
Like the last tournament we are featuring a theme to make the event both fun and exciting.
The Nutckraker's Fancy Dress Chess Party will feature:

  • 6 rapid games, each match lasting 30 minutes
  • ECF rating
  • more prize categories to include U14 and U16 
  • fun spot prizes and 5 additional trophies 
  • everyone gets a souvenir medal and a fabulous certificate 
  • cash prizes worth a total of £450 
  • delicious snack, cakes and drinks 

The day starts at 10:15AM with the 1st game at 1030AM.

 

The event finishes with the awards presentation at 15:15.


The cost per child is £39. Numbers are limited to 50 players, so book now to guarantee your child's place. Payment will be due when the place of a player is confirmed.

Final Call for the Chislehurst FIDE RapidPlay this Saturday - we have 32 players registered with the U1750 & U1500 sections definitely going ahead.


We aim to run the U2050 (currently having 5 players) & U1150 (3 players) sections independently if we have at least 8 players in each section so hope a word can be spread around to help us meet the desired minimum numbers...!

Psyon Chess is pleased to announce the Chislehurst FIDE RapidPlay tournament (flyer attached) at a lovely venue on Saturday, the 19th October.a New Under 1150 ECF only rated section has been added (subject to minimum numbers to run as an independent section) to provide opportunity for Improvers as also to those who have been holding back to play in their first tournament to gain experience towards an official rating

One woman will be refunded the entry fee via a lucky dip, & if the player numbers cross 45, likewise one junior will also get the entry fee refunde
