In the final the team made a huge comeback win from 6-2 down against a 2000+ average rating team

The team won a DGT Clock, the prize for the winning club was presented by Alan Henreck.

Medway Chess Club campaigns for more to take up the sport. What an absolutely fantastic day it was when Bartholomew Hall, the renowned producer and presenter of 'Invicta Sport' on KMTV Kent, visited our club on August 30th, 2023! 🎥🌟

The filming went smoothly, and we can't thank Bartholomew enough for his outstanding work. He is not only a talented professional but also a welcomed guest at our club anytime this season.

AGM HIGHLIGHTS

The president presented winners medals to Paul Jeffery, winner of the Alan Evans trophy,

and to all members of the successful Intro Cup Team. Each member was warmly applauded

as they received their winner’s medal.

Rupa Sen, from Medway Diversity Forum: https://www.medwaydiversityforum.co.uk/ on behalf of the forum, had donated £175 to the club for which she was warmly applauded.

Congratulations to Aram Swiatkowski for guiding his team through to the semi final of the Summer Quickplay Tournament where they will face Hastings.

Following discussions between the President, Secretary & Senior Members it was agreed that Jedda Taylor should be made a Lifelong Honorary Member of the club. This meant that no subscription fees would ever be required in future but primarily was intended as recognition of everything that Jedda had done for the club.

League Teams 2023/24

A strong and healthy discussion took place about the number of teams Medway should enter for next season and what competitions they should be entered into. It was resolved that the club should expand to six teams as listed below (captains in brackets), and entered into the following competitions:-

Medway 1(Aram) – En Passant
Medway 2 (Paul Foster) – Harvey Cup
Medway 3(Isaac) & Medway 4 (Will) – Tom Fuller
Medway 5(John) & Medway 6(Paschal) – Intro Cup

This should allow all new and existing players to obtain valuable match experience !
